Lithuania's Windsurfing Cup - Nida 2015 Spring

Hey guys,

A quick and brief post about RS:X Lithuania's Windusirfing Cup. It was completely vice versa as I expected before going to Nida but it was still a massive amount of fun. Nida, was, is and will be one of the best places where competition can be held in Lithuania.

This photo somehow matches what my expectation was compared to reality.

By signing to go to Nida, the forecast showed a stable 6-7m/s of wind that made me think of how crazy and awesome it will be to compete in plaining conditions with RS:X! It was fun, and it was crazy - with no doubt, just take your time and make a guess, if there was no wind or too much wind??

FIRST DAY

At the first day, we arrived to Nida in the morning. Greeted with other fellow windsurfers and sailors that I haven't seen for ages, rigged my gear up and went out to the race field.

We had 2 races, of which both I took the second place. Not much of a speed, only pumping. The weather was great, the company was also great. It was actually much of a fun to remember how the pumping goes. Also, there was some tactical games in the race course, so not only we had to pump, but we had to pump smart.

That's how we refilled our juices after the races on the first day :)
SECOND  DAY
The other day, second day of the competition, was more or less the same - a stable 2-3 m/s wind, sometimes reaching the gusts to 4 m/s what enabled us to pump down the downwind leg quite nicely. Sometimes even plaining!

Again, some tactics and power pumping. Finished 2nd in all 3 races. I was also protested 2 times but was right in both cases so no DSQ went to my scorecard!

Viper class ready rock'n'roll!

Happy faces express the inner emotions of windsurfers, don't you think so? :)

THIRD DAY

"Finally!", I though, some fast action will be held on the water! Wind was howling, being 12-13m/s stable and in gusts reaching up to 15m/s and more. Whoohoo I thought, let's get ready to rumble!

The actual real life result are showed at the photo below:

The are only two kind of problems when you are in competition: no wind or too much wind. So in two first days we had a first part of the issue, the third day we were pleased to feel the other side of the issue - too much of a wind. That's true, that was already an issue, as our olympic sailor Juozas Bernotas LTU 1 was blown away and thrown to the water with RS:X even though his attitude showed in the photo below was different:

As I haven't seen Juozas Bernotas LTU 1 got wiped out with RS:X for 2 or 3 years, so you can imagine - that was a clear sign for "No races today fellas!"

The young guns, though, were amazing. Showing some world class flat water jumps with their wave gears. :)

FOURTH/LAST DAY

Chill out day. The results were more or less clear, the wind again decreased to 2m/s and two races were planned for the last day of the competition. Both races I finished 3rd, making some really unforgettable mistakes at the start and by rounding the buoys in such a way that no one should...
Even though there were no photos taken of me rounding the buoys but it looked nearly the same as Juozas Bernotas LTU 1 did in the first day :)

The day ended nicely, everyone was happy, relaxed, friendly and enjoyed by the most amazing atmoshphere that Nida could offer...  :)

In overall, I took the 2nd place in RS:X Lithuania Windsurfing Cup 2015.

Thanks guys for reading this. We will update you as soon as possible with what's new on the race field. Be ready!
