Polish open final day

Today the wind finally came. Jury made a lot of attempts to do races, but they managed to complete only one. 18 sailors managed to finish in control time.
I was sitting on the shore, because I wasn't feeling completely healthy.
See results above.

Polish open Day 3

Another bad day in Sopot: I am still ill and no races were sailed today.
Othet Lithuanians went out on the water in the evening and had one hour of good training for light winds. Unfortunately Giedrius LTU 11 has broken his MauiSails boom clew puleys.
That's for today.
Let's hope for better tomorow.

Polish open Day 2

The day started with skippers meeting and a impressive speech about diferences between FW and RS:X classes presented by Pol 10 Wojtek. He was argueeing about yesterday's race.
Today we don't have wind at all, but there is a wide range of activities on the beach.
I am drinking tee, taking medicine and I hope I will be like new tomorow.

Polish open FW championship

Hi everybody,
After fantastic competition in Croatia, I went to Sopot for another competition. Sopot greeted us not realy nice -rain and not a lot of wind. Today we had two starts and one race completed. 6 sailors managed to finish in 10 min control time. There was about 6-8 knots wind. I wasn't the lucky one, because as soon as I came into Poland I got flue and my physical condition is not realy good at the moment. I also have chosen wrong fin -70 instead of 74 cutdown. Now I am drinking tee and taking medicine so I hope I will recover for tomorow.

Big Event, Big Days, Big Goals and unforgettable experience…

Olia amigos!

As you may already heard I had a super exciting, thrilling and unforgettable event in Croatia, Zadar. It was 41st Youth world championship which in my eyes was the best event I had ever taken place into. Spectacular views just beyond Croatia border and big hopes led me to the breath taking event on the shore of the Adriatic Sea.

Central European Championship Day 5

Today we had 3 more races and so we finished the competition with 15 races at all. The wind was from 8 to 15 knots.
Today I did one very bad start, one normal start and one good start. I made all starts in the middle of the starting line, I was standing and trying to make some place for planning out until 20 seconds left then I started pumping, planned out and crossed the line. But I did it correctly just in one race in others my timing was bad.
In the first two races it was more favorable to sail near the shore, the wind was stronger here and if you sailed to the Korcula island you had to fight with the current. But in the last race it was more favorable to go to Korcula side.
In the first race after so so start I managed to jump in the 5th position. In the second race I stopped on the starting line, later I made every possible mistake and finished in 20th position.
I was so angry after this race that I decided to measure and train everything for the last race:
I trained quick pumping out and crossing the line, I also decided to go more to the pin end of the starting line because there were less sailors and I found out the tacking point. This preparation has helped me very much and I finished in 4th position.
After the races everybody was waiting for final results. So here they come:
  1. CRO 751
  2. SLO 5
  3. CRO 7
  4. LTU 799
  5. CZE 130
  6. CZE 17
  7. SLO 1
  8. LTU 76
15. LTU 789
28. LTU 646
37. LTU 797
On Saturday we will have slalom race and FW fun race. But I am not going to compete in it because I have somehow injured my shoulder a bit and I want to give him some rest.

Central European Championship Day 4

Today we were waiting for the wind – yes, waiting – even here SOMETIMES you have to wait for the wind. The wind came in just about 3pm. At firs there were about 15knots, but on the last race it dropped down to 8 knots – I guess.

Central European Championship Day 3

Strong wind from the north – mistral - finally came. In the morning there were 3 Formula races in winds from 12 to 20 knots – pretty gusty – and in the afternoon there were 2 Slalom Eliminations completed.
In the first Formula race half of the fleet was late to the start and I forgot my starting watch. The wind was strong but I didn’t make mistakes and finished in 7th position.
In the second race I was going very good as well (in the TOP 10), but then on the first downwind leg Polish guy POL 110 crashed 10 meters in front of me, I had nothing to do so I crashed in front of him to avoid crashing into him. I managed to fight back just to the 22nd position.
In the third race of the day I was going in 4th position, but then jury recalled the race because of the unstable wind.
During the fourth race I made one big tactical mistake – I tacked to early and then I had to do 2 additional tacks near the mark – so I lost about 8 positions, during the downwind leg I overtook some guys and finished in 9th position.
After 9 races with one discard I felt down to 6th postion.
Gedas LTU 76 went up to 13th position.
Arvydas LTU 789 went down to 16th position .
Mindaugas LTU 646 is in 28th position.
Arnas didn’t competed yesterday because he had problems with his sail.

Later we started competing in Slalom at first we had winds up to 30 knots, but later it went down. In the first elimination I got to the final and took 5th place there, but in the second elimination the wind was lighter and it was not enough for my equipment – SB iSonic 94l and SS SC 7.0. My qualification fleet was very strong as well, thus I didn’t managed to finish in 4th place and I got time to eat while others were competing.
Mindaugas felt out in the first elimination, but he went to the loser final in the second elimination.
Gedas got to the loser final in both eliminations.
Arvydas was one time in  the loser and one time in the winner final.
In overall Arvydas took 7th place and I took 10th place.

Central Europe championship Day 2

Today first possible start was pretty early – at 11AM. And if we would take in mind that yesterday we had a beach party…J
During the first race I made pretty good starboard start (even though the starting line was VERY port tack favorable). I came to the TOP mark 7-8th . During the downwind leg nothing changed, but then I took the gate and went to the shore, while everybody was going to the sea. There I got clean air and took the upwind mark in 4th position. I finished 4th.
Afterwards we had a massive over early start. And then in the second race my sail teared. The 4th window has torn apart from the batten. I went to the beach and repaired it with duck tape (thanks Egidijus LTU 62 and other guys on the beach who have helped me). Then I went back to the racing area.
In the third race I had a bad start and came to the 1st mark just 15th. But during the downwind leg and next upwind I managed to fight back 8 positions and finished in 7th position.
Today I was using 74 cut down Z-fin and it was too powerful too me, I expected light wind and there was about  7-9m/s (14-18 knots).
Now I will try to repair my sail.

P.S.
After 6 races in overall I felt to 5th position.

Photos will come later

Central Europe Championship Day 1

For me the day started as always: I woke up in the tent at  8 AM, because the sun started shining in my tent and it became a greenhouse, I didn’t want to be a tomato so I run out of my tent.
In the skippers meeting I have realized that the fleet will be pretty big here ( 49 competitors). The rules were explained, but there was only one change - 3 races max per day.
Today the wind was blowing from south and it was light – about 10 knots – ideal conditions for me. I expected to be 1st of Lithuanians and to be in Top 10.
The distance was right side favorable, but starting on port was complicated, because the left side of the distance was very near to the shore. I decided to start on starboard and then quickly tack on port.
But my plan went wrong a bit. There were a lot of sailors which were standing near the boat and doing nothing. So I decided to go down and overtake that group from downwind, but then I got into shadow of CRO 7, luckily (luckily, because of that I made a tack just in the right place). If you was starting on starboard tack you had to tack as soon as possible (you just had to pay attention not to go into the shadow of port starters). Near the first mark I was 5th or 4th. Nothing changed during the downwind leg. I have taken the downwind mark just after CRO 7 and while I was trying to plane out he put me into his shadow. During the upwind leg I lost 2 positions because of that and finished in 6th place. I was really happy about my finish.
During the second start I pumped out from the boat, but then SLO 5 went over my head. He made tack in the right place, but I had to go further not to get into his shadow. I came to the upwind mark in 15th position, but during the downwind leg and next upwind managed to battle up to 6th position.
Third race was the best for me. I started again on starboard and came off the starting line at full speed, tacked in the right place and came 4th to the 1st mark. I managed to hold on in 4th position  up to the finish.

After 3 races now I am in 4th position overall.
  1. CRO 751
  2. SLO 5
  3. CRO 7
  4. LTU 799
  5. SLO 1

Croatia II

Croatia II

Today it was windy, again. From 11 AM to 7 PM, from – 10 to 20 knots. But guys that have stayed here for last two weeks are saying that during those weeks it wasn’t very windy, just for FW windsurfing.
Today I have been sailing for only 2hours. I decided not to sail more and to rest a bit for competition which is starting tomorrow. My hands are burning a bit now.
All SLO, CZE, CRO and SRB riders are going out just for 1h everyday, I guess they don't want to get tired as well.
Lithuanian FW team is complete: Gedas LTU 76, Arvydas LTU 789, Mindaugas LTU 646,  Arnas LTU 797 and me- Rytis LTU 799.
I am continuing the power food for windsurfing recipe:
1.      Watermelon  - for lunch
2.      Omelet – for breakfast.
Omlet is very good high in proteins food, and if you add some vegetables you will get carbs as well.

Hello Craotia !!!

Hello Croatia,
The land of the most beautiful costs and winds. Croatia - nice place, warm and friendly people, good winds. Paradise..

Hi everybody,
As you should have already understood I am in Croatia, in Viganj,  preparing for Central European FW Championship.

Short pre-Croatia story. In Lithuania my dad checked the car and then repaired everything what was wrong. You don’t want that your car would break down 2000 km away from your home, huh, do you? And we still remembered our last year trip to Sardegna (our conditioning system broke down just before we came in Sardegna, which greeted us with 35 -39 degrees).
We successfully passed Poland, and then in Czech Republic … guess what’s happened.. I think you  know.. yes, air conditioning system break down, again. #@$^&^^&(***(^^^$%#!/

So Croatia greeted us with 38 degrees. Nice, warm J.

How to: planning out? / Išglisavimas

The most crucial part of FW is planning out. In this video I'll show you 2 different ways of planning out in middle wind conditions.
1st way:
Footstrap front- Harness - Footstrap back
2nd way:
Footstrap front - Footstrap back - Harness

For me  2nd way is more attractive and I am using it more often, although sometimes I use 1st way. 2nd way is more safe and you will plane out earlier by using it, but it requires more power.
1st way is easier, but you risking to go into catapult after hooking in your harness.

Svarbiausia plaukimo dalis yra išglisavimas. Šiame video jūs pamatysite du išglisavimo būdus:

  1. Priekinė kojakilpė - Trapecija - Galinė kojakilpė
