FW Baltic Cup Lithuania, Vente II

Sunday morning promised another good day for racing. The wind was blowing from the shore, so we couldn’t exactly know how much wind is outside. Luckily the organization of this event was very good, so organizers went out by boat and measured the wind – 6-7m/s. It was clear what sail to take (my favorite 11), but I couldn’t decide which fin to take: Z 4S- or Z 0S-, finally I have decided to take Z 0S-,  - even if the wind would get up I wouldn’t start flying with this one.
When I sailed out to test the equipment I realized that this is wind for me. I felt really fast. I just had to make good start to reach good position.

FW Baltic Cup Lithuania, Vente

RytiHi everybody,
Foto by Elena:
The biggest windsurfing event in Lithuania now is taking place in Ventaine - Lithuanian  Baltic Cup.
We didn’t have any races on  Friday, due to the lack of wind, although jury tried to do it twice, but unsuccessfully, - the wind was just teasing us. All in all I managed to plane for 30 minutes.
Saturday greeted us with 20 knots of wind. I rigged all my formula sails: 8.5, 10 and 11. I like 11 at most, 8.5 is for wind over 25 knots and 10 is in the middle. I don’t like this sails really much in high winds, because I often have problems with rotation of the cams.

RS:X camp Nida, Lithuania RCB cup

Nida... Unforgettable experience..

When the sun raised a little bit above the horizon I, Juozas Bernotas, Gintas Bernotas, Martynas Juodeska, Monika Juodeskaite and our RS:X rigs were on our way to the Nida. We left Kaunas on Monday morning and I was really excited to visit Nida as it would have been my first time there ever. I had a lot of expectations ahead and briefly I was pop-eyed when I got there. Not to mention the fact that I was amazed by the sea-banks of Nida it was unforgettable pleasure to windsurfing on the west coast of Kursiu Marios.

Luckily, we had a fantastic weather during the camp and wind almost everyday what made our RS:X camp even more amusing. It was a great chance to regain some skills which were lost during the winter before the RCB cup. It was amazing that we were planning 3 days out of 4, but on the other hand I haven't got a chance to re-boost my light wind skills.

LR Cup

As usually while 'Eurovison' final concert is being held somewhere in Europe in Lithuania, Vente we have Lithuanian Republic windsurfing Cup competition. This year it was a little bit international cause brothers latvians (Janis Preiss LAT 23, Janis Rencis LAT 0, Richards Omanbriedis LAT 48 and Maris Ozols LAT 40) decided to compete in our Cup instead of watching 'Eurovision' at home (better they would have watched it, because now they have stolen 2 podium places). All in all 5 Formula Windsurfing heats were sailed - 4 on Saturday, 1 on Sunday. Results:
1. Janis Preiss LAT 23
2. Mantas Gresevicius LTU 13
3. Janis Rencis LAT 0
this time I've got the worst place:
4. Rytis Jasiunas LTU 799

VG Spring tour II - Elektrenai

Aloha everyone!

As you may already know on Saturday we had a light wind slalom competition - 7 races, 1 break - which was organized by "Vejas Galvoje". Applause for Mantas LTU 13 who was increadibly fast and unbeatable that day with his enormous slalom gear - 9.7 Severne Reflex and 122L iSonic. Also, congratulations to Arvydas Moliusis - LTU 789 (light wind Grand Master) and Rytis Jasiunas - LTU 799, who somehow managed to plan with his 7.0 Simmer SCR 2009 and JP 109L while leaving the whole group of windsurfers behind and unplanning.

'Vejas galvoje' - Spring tour II

Conditions:
This time VG Spring tour took place in Elektrenai lake, 'Pievos' spot. The forecast was promising, but the reality during the race was much worse. According to the forecast we expected 7-12m/s wind all the day. When me and my family arrived about at 10.30 it was so, but at 12.00 when the starts had to begin the wind dropped to 5-10m/s and it left so until 16.00. Organisers were afraid that the wind could  stop blowing at all, thus they  tried to do as many starts as possible. After 7 races were finished everybody decided that there is no need to wait more for the wind and the races were closed. After 0.5h the wind started blowing 8-14 m/s and left so until the night. Totally 7 races were done, only during the last 2 race I have managed to plane without any stops. During all other races I was standing for at least 50-100 meters, because the wind was very gusty. Distance:

Kaunas Season Open - RCB Day 2

When I first arrived at Kaunas Yacht-club in the morning I though there wouldn't be any starts that day because the wind wasn't showing any signs of life. So I took the chair, put it near the water and began chilling. I was also mentally preparing to be the first one because the current 2nd place was just not enough for me. Some minutes later the wind started shaking the leaves and I realized that finally there would be some starts that day.

I rigged the same 9.0 sail, prepared my rocket called Mistral One-Design and was waiting for the race to take place. I knew that I had to push my self hard to be the first one. Therefore, I believed I was prepared.
