Training camp - Spain, Burriana VI

Friday 25
In the morning I was waked up by call off Pablo. He said that the waves are very good today. So I have quickly eaten my breakfast and after 30min from waking up I was in Club.
The waves were really good today. There was no wind in the morning, so the waves were very clean and open. They were about 1 meter height and easy to catch and ride. after few hour of practising I managed to catch 2 really nice waves. I was ridding them on the unbroken part and even making turns fantastic.
Later the wind started picking up and guys were rigging

The wind was crazy and waves were even more crazy. During about 15m/s wind and up to 4 meters height waves only Pablo and one other estonian went out with wave equipment. Others were sitting on shore or playing with bodyboards. I tried to do surfng, but it was really hard, because of very strong current. And the waves started braking very far away from the beach. Thus I was catching the second or third time braking waves.
Later we went to Decathlon sports shop.

Thursday we were doing formula, there (were the waves don't brake, more far in the see)
Thursday, 24
Today  the waves were smaller, - only 3 meters J. The wind in the morning was about 5m/s later it increased up to 10 meters.

Training camp - Spain, Burriana V

Monday, 21

Today the wind forecast was very good, but reality was much worse. The maximum wind speed was not more than 7 knots. I haven´t gone out to windsurf at all, because I was afraid of 1 meter waves. So I was surfing all the day.

In the evening we went to Castelo in Decathlon sports shop. It was the biggest sports shop I have ever seen. The first flor is s big as a normal food supermarket and the second flor is the same. In this shop you can find everything, from running shoes to windsurfing boards and much more. We spent there over 2 hours.

Training camp - Spain, Burriana IV

Friday, 18
Forecasts weren´t showing any wind, but locals said that there should be termical breeze from sea.
The termic started blowing at 13,00 and lasted for 3 hours. The wind strength was 7-8 knots..
I rigged Severne CODE RED 11,0 and put my 74 S- Z fin. Other guys were also rigging the biggest sails they had.

Training camp - Spain, Burriana III

The conditions were almost the same as yesterday, just the wind direction was cross off-shore, but the wind was still very gusty.
At first we rigged FW equipment. Me and John went out but it was too much wind for me, thus after half an hour I sailed back to the beach. Other guys were already rigging slalom equipment. I rigged out my FW equipment and rigged up slalom: 6,2 NP RS:Slalom and SB iSonic 94.

Training camp - Spain, Burriana II

Wednessday, 16
The wind was blowing from the morning, so we started rigging as soon as we came to the club. The wind direction was straight off-shore. I have rigged Severne CODE RED 10,0 and I have put Hurricane FRB 7. I thought that the wind will be strong and it will be high wind FW training, but….
To begin with it was very hard to get out because the direction of wind and waves was opposite. When I have finally come out I realised that the wind is really strong, really J
It was very difficult to do everything from going downwind to just standing and holding the sail. Most of estonians who managed to come out were sitting on their boards and resting.
Johannes was on the water with a boat. He said that the wind is up to 25 knots in gusts. In fact the wind was very gusty.

Training camp - Spain, Burriana

Finally my longly planned trip to Burriana (near Valencia) has begun. There have been some problems because 1 week before the trip I have broken my feet toe and doctors put my leg in gypsum.  So I went out to the trip with gypsum. To this training camp I was invited by estonian Johannes Kaju.
Now we are in Burriana and here are 6 estonian FW – slalom sailors with John Kaju EST – 24 in front.  Plus we are competing with one local, our friend Pablo ESP – 16.
