Forecasts and hopes for 2011

Now, when I have already overviewed the last season I am setting aims for the next one.

  1. The first aim for me is to jump in top 5 riders Formula Windsurfing overall class.
  2. Secondly I hope to be in top 6 in Slalom overall class.
Both in Lithuania
I am going to participate in several international FW competitions. It is harder to predict your place in them because you never now how many and how strong riders will come.
  1. In Baltic Cup series I hope to finish somewhere between 15th-25th. Of course it depends on conditions.
  2. In European championship I would like to finish in 40-60 position.
  3. In European Youth championship I would like to finish in Top 5.
All these predictions are not very accurate, but they will help me in the end of the season to see my mistakes. I advice to do this to every competitor. Overviewing your last season and predicting results for the next will help you to achieve more.

The view back to 2010: Part 2 - Slalom

I have overviewed FW season so far and now I will go on to Slalom.

After FW races in VG spring tour we have had a wonderful slalom competition. The conditions were not really good, but they were ok. The wind was going up and down from 6m/s to 12m/s. I finished 5th and I am happy with this result.

The view back to 2010: Part 1 - FW

Alberto Menegatti has said that not only training helps him to achieve better results, but also at the end of the year he looks back and tries to see what has went wrong during the season and why. So I will try to do this and to share my thoughts with you.

So at first about FW:
The season started perfectly for me. First competition was VG spring tour which was held in very unstable and light wind conditions. I like such conditions very much because I can use up my weight and tactics. I finished 2nd and it is my best result so far in FW overall class.
Equipment: SB 162 + Severne Code Red 10,0

Second competition was Kaunas season opening that was held in very tough conditions, which are my point of weakness. But due to the fact that a lot of competitors were afraid of 10-12m/s wind I managed to complete the race in 5th position.

WWEC 2011 Kaunas

The windsurfing season in Lithuania ended few month ago and the winter windsurfing season has began.
Last weekend Winter Windsurfing European Cup event was held in Kaunas. About 20 competitors from Lithuania, Latvia and Finland have come. The ice conditions on Kaunas lake was very good - smooth ice with few centimetres of snow over it. Wind conditions on Saturday were almost perfect - about 6 m/s, however, on Sunday the wind was only about 3 m/s during the competition and about 6 meters afterwards.
On Saturday 3 slalom elimination cycles were completed. Each cycle consisted of 4 runs - 2 qualification runs and Golden and Silver fleet run. Aleksandrs Leontjevs was leading all the time except the first Golden run when he crashed into his countryman Janis Preis - he was always second. The surprise of this competition was my friend Andrius Sliuburys from Lithunia. He took the third place in Slalom.
